Particles are simply a bunch of floating textures, sometimes called sprites, which are typically rendered facing the viewer's camera (with few exceptions).
The particle textures are scripted to move in a unique way which creates visual effects.
The particle script, which contains the particle parameters, can be placed in the contents of a second life object and the effect will burst from the center of that object.
Typical particle effects might be fire, smoke, rain, clouds, or even fireworks.
If you purchased a particle effect from Particle Station, it includes both a Second Life particle script and an exclusive Easy FX Code.
Second Life Particle Script - can be dropped into the contents of your object and the particle effect will automatically begin bursting, with no other options.
You can optionally use our Free Particle Script Pack to have more control over how you interact with the particle effect (via chat, collision, touch toggle and more).
To use the script templates: open up your Second Life particle script, locate the section blocked out in green slashes, copy the particle code (where instructed) from within the script, and paste it into a script template (where indicated). Then save the script template and drop it into your object to begin using the particles as intended.
Easy FX Code - Use one of the particle templates from our Free Easy FX Code Reader Scripts in combination with any of our Easy FX Code note cards. Drop them both together in your object contents to begin using the particles as intended. Easy!
Easy FX Codes are for optional use and are not compatible with any other system.
You can not copy/paste an Easy FX Code into a Second Life Script. It can only be read by an Easy FX Gadget or Easy FX Code Reader scripts.
You can grab a copy of our Free Easy FX Code Reader Scripts to get started.
Just choose a script template, and drop both the template and your 'Easy FX Code note card' into the contents of your object.
Your particles will be ready to use as intended.

The Particle Effect (script) is delivered inside of an invisible, transparent textured prim (object).
The particle effects are delivered this way so that builders can simply link them to other objects fast and so that the particle effects look as pictured upon delivery.
Second life handles invisible objects differently than solid objects.
Example: so you can have an invisible shield on and still be able to select things around you.
To Pick Up the Invisible Particle Object:
1. You must be in 'edit mode' (by selecting any object nearby and clicking 'edit' in the 'options' menu).
2. Click-And-Drag the cursor around the particle effect until the invisible sphere is selected (check the edit window to make sure it says only 1 object is selected).
3. Now you have the object selected and you may delete it or copy it or modify it.
You may also Press and hold CTR+ALT+T to toggle transparent objects on and off (invisible objects will be shown in red) so that you can easily select the objects you are looking for.
Each Particle Generator we carry has a particle configuration panel loaded with buttons.
The buttons seem overwhelming at first, but quickly become easy to use.
You click a configuration button and begin changing parameters until you reach a desired result.

You will need a particle script template. You can get a Free Particle Script Pack from Particle Station and use the templates to apply the particle FX. Instructions are inside of each script describing exactly what to do.
There are a large variety of ways to structure a particle effect script in Second Life, so it's nearly impossible to make a gadget that can read them all. Our solution is the Easy FX Code, which is a particle script that has been structured into a format that can be read by our gadgets. Simply copy a code and paste it into the notecard located within the contents of any Easy FX product. You may need to press "Load Notecard" if the effect doesn't automatically initialize.
